FSS conducts a virtual dialogue on: Major Land and Food Security Concerns in Amhara Region
Forum for Social Studies (FSS), successfully conducted a virtual dialogue event on the specific topic of Major Land and Food Security Concerns of the Amhara Region, on Friday, 30 October 2020.
Ato Menberu Allebachew, Deputy Program Manager (DPM) of the DFID-financed Land Investment for Transformation (LIFT) Program, presented a discussion paper on the topic, which was followed by an hour and half-long vibrant Q & A session moderated by Dr. Zerihun Mohammed, Executive Director of Good Governance Africa-Eastern Africa (GGA-EA).
The dialogue event marked the end of the year-long dialogue series and dissemination project titled Land and Food Security in Ethiopia’s Transition to a Democratic Society that was financially supported by the Open Society Initiative for East Africa (OSIEA).
Whereas, the presentation and discussions held during the virtual dialogue event will be broadcasted as a two-week half-hour program by Radio Fana, its video recording will be uploaded on YouTube with its link being made available on FSS website.
Around 50 invited individuals from various sectors, including regional administration offices, regional bureaus, CSOs, donor agencies, higher educational institutions and the media, attended the virtual event.
Friday’s virtual event and the one conducted earlier on 22 September 2020, were held virtually with the technical support of the Civil Society Resource Centre (CSRC), and are the first webinar public dialogue events to be organized by FSS in its 22 years-long history – for obvious reason.
